WHO ARE WE?

WHO ARE WE?

More than a decade of preparation working and playing in the dive industry, finally the effort started paying off when Rupert gave up the buzz of the city and moved to the slow and rural life of Ponta do Ouro, where Back to Basics Adventures were born in 2010.

THERE IS NO ADVENTURE WITHIN YOUR COMFORT ZONE

More than a decade of preparation working and playing in the dive industry, finally the effort started paying off when Rupert gave up the buzz of the city and moved to the slow and rural life of Ponta do Ouro, where Back to Basics Adventures were born in 2010.

Literally back to basics, life in Mozambique forces one to focus on that which is really important, leaving the glam and glitter of the city life far behind, finding the essence of life and sharing it with others.

Back to Basics Adventures found that the essence of their operation is the people.  The people that own it, the people that work there, and most importantly the people that visit, because Back to Basics Adventures realises that it is the people that make the dive a memorable experience, not the amount of dives you can fit into a day.  They realise that people come here to have fun, to explore the underwaterworld, and to connect with other like-minded people.

Back to Basics Adventures are passionate about people.  It is a community, not a business, where each customer is known on their name and listened to.

Come experience us to find out for yourself what differentiates Back to Basics Adventures.

MEET THE TEAM

Supported by Jen, his parents, Nito and Pascal, two of the local talents discovered by Rupert, Back to Basics Adventures offers more than just another dive.  Back to Basics is about delivering a personal service to the human, about showing you the beauty of the underwater world and teaching people that it can be a treasure chest if you only pushed yourself outside your comfort zone.

Rupert is the owner, a qualified PADI instructor and one of the best skippers available.  He has trained more than xxx divers to date and you can be sure that the dive bug will have bitten by the time you qualified and are welcomed to the dive community.

Jen has a passion for nudibranches interweaved with a natural talent for underwater photography.  She can help you become a better underwater photographer or give you advise on choosing the right gear based on experience and passion, the best teacher around.  Look at the research page for more details on her work and what she is giving back to the community with her work.

Nito does not seem to know how to have a bad day and never stops smiling with whatever the task at hand is. He pre-empts your every need before you even thought about it and is the essential finish to a winning recipe for a relaxing and enjoyable dive experience.

Steffi is an experienced dive master with more dives behind her name than can be counted, and if she is not under the water in Mozambique, she is teaching children in the city of Centurion to swim. Passionate about water, passionate about people.

Johan seems to be able to solve any problem, whether it is with the boat, the compressor, the facilities, or under the water.  Also an experienced and passionate diver, the boy line in his hands ensures a safe and pleasurable dive.
